Would you help me move some seedlings into the raised bed, Ra?

Zahra: 
Suuurrree…! Lend me your gloves and cap first. I’ve just got my nails manicured.

Alfa: 
Geez! Alright, I’ll get ‘em from my shed.

Zahra: 
You’re the best!

Which method is better? Starting seeds or using seedlings?

Alfa: 
Well, that depends on your garden and personal preference.

Zahra: 
I want to start a vegetable garden at home, but I don’t know which one to choose.

Alfa: 
I’ve got 2 questions for you to answer first.

Veggies That Need To Be Sown Directly

Short-lived crops or tubers with taproots must be sown directly in permanent sites, such as raised beds.

Some examples of vegetables in this group are beetroot, radish, carrot, corn, cucumber, onion, lettuce, okra, parsnip, pea and turnip.

Veggies That Can Be Grown From Seedlings

Although many kinds of vegetables can be grown from seed, usually those with a long growing period or larger size will be sown in a seedling tray or other container.

Examples of plants in this group include broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, eggplant, tomatoes, kale, leek / leeks, peppers, and zucchini.

And there are also some vegetables that can not be grown from seeds or seedlings at all, but from the roots or tubers of the parent plants.

Some examples of vegetables in this group are artichokes, asparagus, garlic, onions, shallots, potatoes, and sweet potatoes.
